Yuletide Tree Gift brings together my 35 years of experience as the founding director of a charitable, human service organization in Massachusetts, my newest venture as a Christmas tree grower, my patronage of retail stores in the marketplace, and my ongoing relationship with humanitarian organizations throughout the country. This, Yuletide does in a most unique and creative way.
Like most parents, my wife Meg and I know first-hand the financial challenge of putting presents for our children and friends under the family Christmas tree. Through Yuletide Tree Gift, we will be able to expand our buying power and help empower other consumers of real trees to do the same. So, then, consumer advocacy becomes the first pillar of Yuletide Tree Gift.
As new Christmas tree growers, we wanted to create a mechanism that would provide added value to our Christmas trees and thus the value of our small, family acreage here in New England. Whatever we do for ourselves, we believe should, and could, extend industrywide ---making profitability the second pillar of Yuletide. (Take that which is good for you and make it good for others!
We also sought to broaden the charitable outreach of our small Christmas tree farm, and stimulate philanthropy in the entire industry. In addition, we have included the newly established Christmas Spirit Foundation to support the wonderful charitable contribution of Christmas tree growers. This time of the year is about giving and receiving. What better way to celebrate the spirit of the season than to integrate charity into the commercial side of the holiday season? Thus, philanthropy is pillar number three
As environmentalists, we are proud to be part of an industry that contributes to the balance of nature. Furthering the sale of Christmas trees as a renewable resource that offsets the detrimental effects of deforestation is a concrete way of addressing the needs of the planet and constitutes pillar number 4, the environment. Christmas trees are not only good for the environment, they are beneficial to the animals that inhabit the millions of acres of Spruce, Cypress, Fir, Pine and Cedar Christmas trees that grow across the North American continent.
These, then, are the pillars, the guiding principles upon which Yuletide Tree Gift, Inc. operates: Consumer advocacy, profitability, philanthropy and, most importantly in the scheme of things, the environment.
On behalf of my son Chris Randa who co-founded Yuletide, Inc., my wife Meg, and the entire Board of Directors and staff, I extend to you a warm welcome to this exciting venture. Let's make 2007 the biggest year ever in Christmas tree sales.
